As a connector, the Department of Economic Affairs serves as a strategic link between multiple chambers of commerce, fostering collaboration and opening new pathways for SMEs to expand their reach.
The Consul for Economic Affairs works closely with the Department of Mexican Communities at the Consulate General of Mexico, who leads the Programa Consular de Emprendimiento para Mexicanas en el Exterior that aims to equip Mexican women living abroad with the knowledge, tools, and entrepreneurial training necessary to develop and launch sustainable business ventures within their communities. Plus, through the annual Export Training Program and a curated virtual business matchmaking event led by the Secretariat of Economy, this role empowers women entrepreneurs to scale their businesses and expand into international markets.

This role is critical in creating synergies that drive growth, innovation, shared prosperity and long-term competitiveness for businesses and entrepreneurs, actively championing their role as key drivers of inclusive and sustainable development within the national economy.
